ABOUT RUDE GALLERY
The Rude Gallery is an intimate, on-campus space for student-proposed exhibitions. Its unique size (117 square feet with 12-foot ceilings) and location (nestled between two main drawing studios) invite site-responsive exhibitions that prioritize novel installations and audience experience.
Students lead all aspects of Rude Gallery exhibition-making, including proposal writing, planning, installation, promotion, programming and engagement, and deinstallation. This structure builds confidence, reinforces professional expectations, and helps students understand how their work functions within a public context.
Exhibitions may be complemented by artist talks, receptions, workshops, critiques, or other student-led programming that encourages dialogue, collaboration, and community engagement.
EXHIBITIONS IN THE RUDE GALLERY INCLUDE:
Semesterly Student-Proposed Exhibitions
These exhibitions accept proposals from on-campus and online students. Proposed exhibitions may be for solo or group shows, with work made by students, faculty, or staff. The request for proposals goes out in the Fall of every year.
