celestial body by mac nicholson
about this exhibition
Celestial Body communicates the spiritual connection between identity and nature through intentional textile processes. Traditional craft is repurposed as a coping mechanism to comfort familial trauma and find acceptance in the nature of one’s queerness. Woven interpretations of natural waterways expand on their healing sustenance properties. Step into the energy of manifestation that is reflected between rapids, cleansing the soul as it washes away.
ARTIST BIO
Mac Nicholson (they/them) is an interdisciplinary textile sculptor who reinterprets the ethereal nature of their home into spiritual objects. Confronting a yearning for home, their work provides recontextualization around isolation from the home and family for queer individuals. Born in Somerset, Pennsylvania, Nicholson moved to Denver, Colorado when they were 18 to pursue the arts. They are currently a candidate for a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.
